Furthermore, individual experiences during the Napoleonic Wars and different social groups that influenced the young Conservatives are presented. By situating conservative agents’ specific experiences and feelings during Napoleonic times within a broader, more general perception of the time, the importance of the noble social estate and their privileged position within society to their political thinking is highlighted. The chapter introduces the general perception of the time between 18 as a background for analysing the genesis of conservatism.
